Tuscany road trip: watch out for ZTL zones
By Simon Abplanalp ·
What a Zona a traffico limitato is, how to avoid fines and which route to take.
Florence, Siena, the Val d’Orcia: Tuscany is made for a week by car. But one detail leads to expensive letters every year.
ZTL: limited traffic zones

- Look for the round sign with a red border saying “ZTL”.
- Park outside and walk in.
- If your hotel is inside a ZTL, ask whether it can register your plate.
